Pytanie: Will a Region 2 imported DVD play in my iBook?

Answer #1:
You can play a DVD of another region code, but after 4 times the DVD drive will be permanently changed to the other region code, and you won't be able play your own region's DVD anymore (thank the media industry for that.)On an iBook G4, I would try VLC to play other region DVD. Change preferences in DVD player first so that it won't start automatically when a disc is inserted. (This doesn't work on MacBooks as they seem to have a hardware-based region detection that VLC can't bypass.)

Download the 'Package for PowerPC-based Macs' if you have Leopard (MacOS 10.5). If you're running MacOS 10.4 Tiger, download the 'Latest Mac OS X package for 10.4' further down on the page.
Another option would be to use a DVD ripping software which can write a copy of your DVD to your hard drive, removing all copy protection and region code.
Other solutions target the DVD drive's firmware to make it region-free, but unfortunately this is better supported on Windows-based platforms than on Macs.
